Micro Magic

So, Buttercup and I have had our shop open for about a month now. Views are high and sales are slow. It's frustrating, but I tell myself to keep on truckin'! I'm sure we will hit our stride at some point (After all, it hasn't been that long and I've only just started experimenting with my clay). In between crafting and browsing Etsy crafts, I often find myself stumbling across handcrafted items that make me smack my head and exclaim, "Dernnit! What didn't I think of that?!"

Made with Clay and Love, one of my favorite shops on Etsy, keeps popping up in my notifications and I smack myself every time because they are just so dern cute! I squee with excitement! Eventually the cuteness load will burst and I'll break down and buy one of these adorable creatures.

So small. . . so simple. . . so squee! I melt into an 8 year-old version of myself when I browse Melissa's plethora of magnificent creatures. There are even hard-to-resist business card holders!

Seriously? An optometrist owl?! I had to resist buying this for my optometrist husband for his birthday because I think he would just laugh at me (and I would steal it for my own business cards anyway).

Oh Melissa. . . How do you do it? I am thoroughly jealous and amazed by all of your carefully crafted clay creations. You inspire me to keep playing with my clay knowing that one day I will discover something as unique as your teeny, tiny, precious micro sculptures.

*sigh* A majestic and mystical micro unicorn that will forever prance around in my imagination. . .

I salute Melissa and her fabulous shop. Go forth, fellow readers, and browse through the squee-worthy products that she has available to you. Perhaps the air in Canada is more inspiring than the heavy humid air that I breathe down here in Alabamy. :)

Wonderful Wedding Topper

On December 21, 2012 (yes, the end of the world!), I married my sweetie pie. We had a teeny self-uniting service at my childhood home and then had a cocktail party with my extended family. Planning a big hoopla with expensive food, flowers, dresses, invitations, and photography nauseated me, so I'm glad we had the intimate celebration that I always wanted.

Anyways, my absolute favorite part of the event (besides ya know, getting married) was my adorable and perfect wedding topper that I bought from BonjourPoupette on Etsy. We are total cat people, so I could not resist adorning my cake with this precious couple of felines.

Seriously, how cute?!

Every topper and creature in Sofie's shop is equally awesome, so I couldn't think of a better first blog post than one that promoted her fantastic work. I owe her a huge thank you for making my special day all the more awesome. :) Check out her shop. There are a ton of sweet statues! I am especially in love with these darling blue kitties!

There are lots of other shops on Etsy that  feature custom wedding cake toppers, so if you're looking for something unique, I highly recommend browsing around the wedding sections on Etsy. Many creative and wonderful people make high quality and one of a kind toppers that will set your cake a part from all the others.

Buttercup and I join the blogosphere!

Honestly, I never envisioned myself starting a blog. But why?

Well, Heather, you have nothing to talk about.

Not true! Okay, maybe that's semi-true. But when it comes to silly little crafts or mega-pompous art, I do enjoy the occasional conversation.

Yeah, but, who's going to read this?

I have no idea. But does that mean I shouldn't do it? Nah. Even if no one ever reads this I'll still enjoy being silly and expressing myself through silly little blog posts.

Ok, fine. Join the incredibly large blogosphere. What's this blog about anyways?

I'm no sure yet. I do know that I feel like my little crafty/art business could use a more substantial presence on the web if I ever hope to be successful. Perhaps this blog will be some sort of diary/rant/rave spot for all things crafts and art related. After all, I do tend to surf through Etsy and other art websites and find things that are awesome and worthy of sharing. I guess I'm a jealous crafter. There's a ton of awesome crafts out there that I wish I had thought to make and I would love to share with others who enjoy awesome crafts.

But, you suck at writing. Won't people laugh you?

Meh. You know what? I don't really care about that anymore. As long as I stay true to myself, I'm sure someone out there won't mind the occasional wordiness and misplaced comma.

So, anyway, welcome to my blog! Buttercup the Chihuahua and I need to vent about our crafts and art and anything else that pops into our heads. We work from home, so it's important to keep occupied. :) If there is anyone out there that reads and follows our blog, yay! You can be my friend. :)
